Uniper — traconn.io
A user-centered redesign of Traconn.io for streamlined PPA management.
A Platform Traders Didn't Trust
Traconn.io helps Uniper manage its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) portfolio. Pre-redesign, it had a non-intuitive interface, cumbersome multi-step workflows, and poor data visualization — making it hard for traders to work efficiently or trust what they were seeing.
For context — what a PPA actually is
Grounded in Trader Interviews
12 interviews with energy traders at Enel SpA, Engie Global Markets, and Glencore Energy, plus competitor and industry analysis, surfaced a clear need: simplify PPA management end-to-end — from deal creation, to data visualization, to contract handling.
Three Places We Focused
Deal Creation
Deal creation, redesigned around drag-and-drop and pre-populated templates (top of the full page shown)
Deal Visualization & Event Editing
Deal visualization and event/value editing, made clearer and more direct
Design System
A reusable design system for consistency across the platform — color palette, empty/error states, and a full component library.

What Changed
Less Time on Routine PPA Tasks
Drag-and-drop deal creation and pre-populated templates cut the steps between opening a deal and having it ready to review.
Traders Trust What They See
Clearer visualization and more direct event/value editing replaced a workflow traders had to work around, not with.
One Design System, Not Ad Hoc Screens
A shared component library and consistent empty/error states mean new parts of the platform inherit the same clarity.
An End-to-End Fix, Not a Patch
Creation, visualization, and contract handling were redesigned as one connected flow, grounded in what the research surfaced.
By starting from real trader interviews rather than assumptions, the redesign turned traconn.io from a tool traders tolerated into one they could actually rely on to manage Uniper's PPA portfolio.
